Kathy Hrabovsky, Architect
Who is this Wise Woman?
Kathy Hrabovsky (the H is silent) has practiced architecture for 29 years, in New York City, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. She started KAH Architects in Mt Lebanon in 2003.
What is her business?
If you want extreme professionalism, and beautiful thoughtful and functional design, consider KAH Architects for your large or small building or renovation project.
What makes it special?
Kathy is set apart by her aesthetic sensibility and her skill in communicating with clients; her interactive design process is a team effort that turns wisps of ideas into solid structures of client self-expression.
She is worthy of the “Gotta Good” Guide because….?
Kathy is committed to holistic, sustainable and green design – that means she is thinking big picture when she considers your project: Will the design improve your heating bills? Will the materials last through time? Will they be safe for your family? Does the project plan minimize the impact on the immediate and broader environment?
Because Hrabovsky approaches projects as a team effort she is sensitive to clients’ economic and timing needs. She works closely with clients to multi-task and collapse time lines.
Kathy has happy clients throughout the Pittsburgh area and the South Hills. Take a look at pictures of actual projects on her website including an addition that created the perfect home for entertaining (click here) or the extensive re-do that allowed owner to fully display their art collection (click here)
In her own words...
“I don’t try to impose my own design sensibilities on clients; I really try work with the sense of the existing structure and incorporate the clients’ vision to create a cohesive, workable, beautiful aesthetic.”
Other stuff you should know…
Kathy works with both commercial and residential clients but particularly enjoys the transformations that occur, and the hopes that become possible, when she works with homeowners.
Hrabovsky received her Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University in 1982 and her Masters of Science in Sustainable Design in 2010. This fall she will be teaching a course on Sustainable Architecture at Chatham College; she has frequently taught architecture related courses at various institutions.
Kathy is an active member of the South Hills Community. She is on the Environmental Sustainability Board of Mt. Lebanon, works with the Women & Girls Foundation, volunteers as an Odyssey of the Mind coach in the schools, and is on the Mt. Lebanon school board utility management review team.
